Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland is an action-packed platformer where you embark on an adventure to restore dreams to Dream Land. When Kirby realizes he hasn't been dreaming, he discovers that the Fountain of Dreams has lost its power. His longtime rival, King Dedede, has broken the Star Rod into seven pieces, scattering them across Dream Land. Without the Star Rod, peaceful dreams have disappeared, and a new evil is on the rise.

- Move – Arrow Keys
- Jump – "Z" Key
- Inhale/Swallow/Attack (with Copy Ability) – "X" Key
- Spit Out Inhaled Objects – Press "X" Key again
- Use Copy Abilities – When Kirby has swallowed an enemy, press the Down Arrow Key to copy its ability
- Fly – Press "Z" repeatedly or press the Up Arrow Key
- Pause – Enter Key
- Select – Space Key
